As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am bound by its Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, which outlines strict confidentiality requirements.

Confidentiality in Therapy

1. Therapeutic Conversations
   All content shared in therapy sessions, including personal thoughts, feelings, and experiences, will remain confidential. This confidentiality is integral to creating a safe and supportive space where you feel comfortable sharing openly.

2. Exceptions to Confidentiality
   Confidentiality may only be broken under the following circumstances, as required by law or professional duty of care:

   • If there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others.

   • If there is a legal requirement to disclose information (e.g., safeguarding issues involving children or vulnerable adults).

   • If ordered to release information by a court of law.
     In these situations, I will, where possible, discuss the need to break confidentiality with you before taking any action.

3. Supervision
   As part of my commitment to maintaining high standards of practice, I participate in regular supervision. During these sessions, I may discuss elements of our work together, but your identity will always remain anonymous.

4. Record Keeping

• Session notes and any personal data are stored securely and are only accessible to me.

• Records are kept for a period in line with professional guidelines and legal requirements, after which they are securely destroyed.
